HPE Discover 2016 round up

By Jess Tyley

Meg Whitman was clear in her keynote at HPE Discover 2016 about her vision of the future of IT and I was lucky enough to be there to hear it first hand on Tuesday. Digital transformation is at the forefront of the company’s vision along with key partnerships and data led insight.

Our world is experiencing a digital disruption. We are producing data like we never have done before and its more important than ever that we have the capability to process and draw insights from the data we create. Data volumes are increasing outside the edge and companies need to be able to process the data to make decisions in real time.

The number of interconnected devices are ever increasing and a stat from Gartner that Meg Whitman highlighted predicts this will increase from 6.4 billion to 21 billion in 2020. With more interconnected sensors within these devices that can digitise light signals, temperature and vibrations and movement these data sets will change everything allowing us to better understand the world around us so that we can answer questions in medicine, physics and environmental science.

The Transformation Zone at the ExCel centre gave 10,000 attendees from across the world the opportunity to ask questions around their real life business challenges and get the answers from the experts within each of the transformation areas.

There were also some announcements made over the course of the three days including the launch of the self contained, software defined Micro Datacenter and the New Hyper Converged 380 2.0. You can find the full list of Data Center Hybrid Cloud product news from Discover in the Partner Portal

Let the Party start...

Tuesday's session ended with the UKI Party hosted by HPE VP Marc Waters and his team, held at the iconic Roundhouse in Camden. After a busy day we all had the chance to unwind with some great performances from All Saints and Madness.

Those of you who know our MD Alex Tatham might not be surprised to hear that after the below photo was taken he did ask the ladies from All Saints whether they still practiced with their hair brushes in their bedrooms. Even less surprisingly, he didn't get much of a response!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the event and to all those who organised a great Discover 2016 experience.
